Double Vision

Kathy B. Austin

One day I awaken
to a room that is doubled,
the bed, the pictures on the wall
all side by side.

I fix two cups of tea,
and two pairs of feet carry me
to the living room
where I look out
at a doubled world
from two windows.

Who knows what is real,
I ask idly as I sip beside myself
on the green sofas,
one sofa silently sliding
through the door.
